In an attempt to address the enormous amount of waste produced by the event industry, a versatile, circular ecosystem of event products was proposed for a tech event in Hanoi.
The product range consists of trade booths, pavilions, stages and hang-out areas, all configurable out of a small number of custom, modular building blocks.
Hanoi Innovation Summit
Product design
Hanoi Innovation Summit, a tech event in Vietnam’s capital, saw the effects of linear, single-use design first hand. Large amounts of booth and stage materials were thrown away after their event in 2019, which led to the wish for more sustainable event products for their 2020 event.
A challenge with the sustainability of booth design is that they are typically custom-made to fit the brands of individual companies. This makes it difficult to reuse and repurpose materials on a large scale. For this reason, the aim of the new product line was to focus on modularity and versatility in order to make the products fully reusable and customisable.
Prior to the event, there was an opportunity to design and set up several pavilions around the Hoàn Kiem lake in central Hanoi. This added complexity to the brief since the pavilions had to be designed out of components that could also be used for the event products.
Unfortunately, the event as well as the pavilion project had to be called off due COVID19. Nevertheless, the project was rebranded as a leasable package of event products designed for the circular economy.
Each product was visualized in a brochure format targeted towards CEO’s and event organizers, showcasing specifications such as square footage, capacity and printable area for adverts.
